Morecambe Toy Shop Fire

Photographs from the Albert Road Fire Ground with Lancashire Fire and Rescue dealing with a “Fire involving ground, first and second floors and roofspace of two adjoining shops in a terrace, the second and third storeys of the building in occupation as flats.”

Fire engines and crews from Morecambe, Lancaster (2), Bolton le Sands, Hornby and Carnforth in addition to an Aerial Ladder Platform and crew from Morecambe have been mobilised to the incident, which is still (18.45 hours) in progress. “

The police closed off Albert Road between Clarendon Road and Claremont Road to allow the blaze to be tackled.

In a later statement the Lancashire Fire and Rescue service confirmed that “Firefighters have been using three main jets and the jet mounted on the Aerial Ladder Platform to extinguish a fire in two adjoining three-storey shops (ground floor) and flats in the two storeys above. A man was brought out of the premises uninjured in the early stages of the incident and although it is not thought that there are casualties, crews cannot be absolutely certain until it is possible to complete their searches.”
