Good News for the Royal Navy Historic Flight

9777823212_05f8eff854_o-2Good news for the Royal Navy Historic Flight, the structural repairs to the Flights’ Hawker Sea Fury T Mk 20 G-RNHF / VX281, which suffered an engine failure and had to make an emergency landing at the 2014 RNAS Culdrose Air Day, have now been completed and the aircraft is being reassembled at North Weald.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has published its initial report into the events of the 31st July 2014 and concluded that the exact cause of the engine failure is still unknown and that forensic investigations are on going. The pilot Ltd Cdr Chris Gotke AFC., made an emergency landing in front of a crowd of 22,000 people at the air show, the aircraft suffered minor abrasions to the fuselage and damage, to a wing tip and the propeller blades where damaged after the aircrafts under carriage collapsed, during the emergency landing.
