“Junglie” Sea King bows out at Yeovilton Air Day

One of the four Westland Sea King H C Mk 4s from 848 NAS that took part in the Commando Helicopter Assault Demonstration at RNAS Yeoviltons International Air Day on the 11th July. The Sea Kings where making their last appearance in the Demonstration as the helicopter is scheduled to be withdrawn from service before next years Air Day. 848 NAS f will continue to operate the Sea King until the end of March 2016 when the type will be withdrawn from service, and 846 Naval Air Squadron will take over the Amphibious Helicopter Assault role, with their AgustaWestland Merlin helicopters. The second operational Merlin squadron 845 NAS will return to home RNAS Yeovilton next summer after they have completed their conversion on to the Merlin at RAF Benson.
