Storm Damage Morcambe

The Met Office issued a “Red” weather warning for Lancashire as gales of up to 100 mph and heavy rain battered the county on Wednesday night and Thursday, Morecambe did not escape the damage in the storms which struck.

An empty block of flats in Heysham Village saw the parapet wall from the roof and windows blown in closing the centre of the village, further along the cost at the Battery part of the roof was blown off Palace Court in Heysham, damaging a van parked in the courtyard, During Thursday afternoon the Fire Brigade where in attendance and Sefton Road was closed as a precaution to protect against damage from window blown debris.

The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended over 100 incidents 77 of which involved dangerous structures, during  the period of calm ahead of the next storm which is heading towards the UK on Friday
