Opus North and Morrisons` have started canvassing the people of Morecambe regarding their proposals which will see the demolition of towns “Polo Tower” to make way for an new £17m shopping and leisure complex on the site of the Frontierland amusement park which closed in 1999.
Ahead of making a formal planning application to Lancaster City Council developer Opus North and site owner Morrisons are looking for “feedback” on their proposals to redevelop the site which it is hoped will attract bid name fashion retailers along with new restaurants and a new quality 60-bed hotel and a family pub around a 376 space car park.
The proposals will see part of the site used to create a residential care home. The development it is claimed will create up to 500 full time jobs and that their will further employment opportunities during the construction phase. The developers are completing a detailed retail assessment which will be scrutinized as part of the future planning application
